Acne

Acne is the most common skin disease in the USA, affecting nearly 80% of the population.  Caused by a bacteria, acne can appear on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders, and upper arms of those affected.  While prevalent in teenagers, acne can affect people of all ages.

While non-life threatening, when left untreated, acne may become progressively worse, causing scarring and emotional distress.

Treatment for acne varies depending on the type and severity of lesions and the patient's skin type, age, and lifestyle. Multiple treatment options exist, including topical creams and oral medications.

Possible Treatment Options for Acne

  • Topical Creams & Ointments
  • Oral Medication & Antibiotics

At Holland Dermatology, we will evaluate the severity of your acne condition and devise a program that will treat the condition.  Most patients can expect to see improvement within 4-6 weeks, although depending on the severity, additional treatment and time may be needed.
